Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust has announced a positive set of results for the twelve-month period to 31 March 2021.

Annual Results - Key Highlights

Increase in the share price (total return) over the financial year. The net asset value total return was 54.5%. The company is the top performer in the AIC Global Emerging Markets sector peer group over 5 years.

42.8%

Return for the benchmark MSCI Emerging Markets Index (total return).

Annual and special dividend

Shareholders received a special dividend of 10.0 pence per share in January 2021. In addition, the total annual dividend for the year of 19.0 pence per share which is in line with the previous year.

£2.6 billion

The total net assets of the company have grown to £2.6 billion and the company continues to be the largest in the AIC Global Emerging Markets sector.

Improved fee structure

Shareholders benefit from a new fee structure. The management fee for assets over £1 billion falling to 0.80% (from 0.85%) and reduces the ongoing charge for the year to 0.97%.

Enhanced investment offering

The company has outlined exciting proposals to change the investment policy that include the potential introduction of private equity (10% maximum) and to increase the gearing limit to 20%. This highlights the flexibility of the investment trust structure and the advantages it offers.

This is the fifth consecutive accounting year that our Investment Manager has delivered an investment return in excess of the benchmark, making TEMIT the best performing investment trust in its peer group over five years.
