Mark’s vision and leadership were instrumental in shaping the Company from its launch in 1989, helping to establish it as the UK’s leading emerging markets investment trust. Over many years, his disciplined, on-the-ground approach to investing and unwavering belief in the long-term potential of developing economies defined the Company's philosophy and success.
Widely regarded as the “Father of emerging markets investing,” Mark built not only a remarkable investment legacy, but also a global perspective that continues to guide the Company today. His commitment to deep research, local insight and long-term value creation remains embedded in our approach.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mark was deeply respected for his intellectual curiosity, cultural openness and generosity of spirit. He inspired colleagues, investors and the broader investment community alike.
