Franklin Real Asset Advisors has acquired a student accommodation located in Copenhagen on behalf of its social infrastructure strategy.

The property is attractively located on Finsensvej in Frederiksberg in Copenhagen, Denmark, and is comprised of over 2,700 sqm, consisting of 81 residential units. Copenhagen Business School has contracted the majority of the rooms on a long-term basis, providing a unique residence concept to its students close to their campus.

Raymond Jacobs, Managing Director at Franklin Real Asset Advisors, comments: “We are delighted to have acquired this asset, which fulfils our dual financial and impact objectives. From an impact perspective, the asset provides affordable rental accommodation to students in a market with significant supply and demand imbalance for residential housing. From a financial perspective, the asset benefits from a long, inflation-linked allocation agreement to a leading university of substantial credit backing, providing secure long term cash flows.”

Michel Lim, Vice President at Franklin Real Asset Advisors, adds: “This transaction provides us with exposure to a well-located asset in Copenhagen highlighting our pan-European investment strategy focus on social infrastructure, including healthcare, education, housing and civic real estate. Due to strong population growth and continued urbanisation trends, Copenhagen continues to be an important market for us, and we look forward to closing similar transactions.”
